The Bridge Church is passionate about connecting people to people and people to God. We're passionate about military families.
A letter from the Pastor:
I have many fond memories of growing up a military kid. One of my favorites is remembering the pride I had when I was asked what my Dad did for a living. I would stand a little taller and tell them "my dad is in the Navy, he serves our country." My dad spent a long time in the Navy, 29 years, so I was asked that question a lot.
Military service comes as a badge of honor, not just for the service man or woman but for the wife or husband, and children of the one that is serving. It's a life filled with challenges that others don't have to face. I remember standing down at the pier in Norfolk just as dawn was breaking to tell my father goodbye for what would be 6 or so months. I remember Him having to miss birthdays, Christmas, and graduations. We knew it was for a great reason but we still missed him. I remember being down at that same pier 6 months later scanning the flight deck for just a glimpse of my Dad. And I remember having him home and how it made our house seem complete.
I write all that to say I was a military family and I understand a little of the trials and difficulties military families face. I remember one constant in my life through all the changes our military family went through, GOD. He never changed, he was always there. That was so encouraging and comforting!
I'm excited about the opportunity to be your pastor. We understand you'll be moving on in a few short years but we're excited to have you. I encourage you to jump right in, there is a place for you at The Bridge. One day when your time in the Hampton Roads area is completed we'll have the privilege of sending you off to the next place in your life. You'll go with our blessing and you'll go as an extension of The Bridge Church.
Thanks for your service!
